Pasar Ramadan (Bazaar)

muslims in Malaysia will observe the fasting month of ramadan beginning today. ramadan is a muslim celebration that is held in the ninth month of the islamic calendar and is a month where muslims must puasa (fast) from dawn till sunset.

it is only during the holy month of ramadan that you will find the ramadan bazaar located at various places in towns. essentially it's just rows of stalls selling varieties of popular food and drinks for the breaking of fast. stalls are normally set up as early as 3pm everyday during the fasting month and usually gets very crowded from 5pm onwards attracting muslims and non-muslims alike to their special once-a-year delicacies and favourite foods.

for the stall traders, some of them part-timers, it is a time when they can earn extra income for the family to be used for buying essentials and luxuries to celebrate Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.
